Biography

Stacy Tapke was first elected as the Kenton County Attorney on November 4, 2014. Prior to her election Stacy worked as an Assistant County Attorney. She is the first woman in Kenton County’s history to hold this office.

Stacy served as President of the Kentucky County Attorney’s Association and as a member of the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) board of directors.  In 2022 her peers elected her to serve a two-year term on the Prosecutor’s Advisory Council overseeing the financial administration of the Unified Prosecutorial System.  Stacy was appointed by the Kentucky Supreme Court to serve as a member of the Mental Health Commission and currently leads the working groups addressing guardianship and mental health commitments.  She also serves on the KACo all lines fund board of directors and in 2023 served on incoming Attorney General Russell Coleman’s transition team. Stacy is a frequent presenter, including training newly elected County Attorneys and speaking at Continuing Education programs. 

In 2024 and 2018 the Kentucky Attorney General recognized Stacy as County Attorney of the Year.  In 2022 the Kentucky Child Support Commissioner presented her with the Commissioner’s Award in recognition of her work with child support.  In 2019 her high school inducted her into the Alumni Wall of Fame and in 2016 she was honored as one of Northern Kentucky's Outstanding Women of the Year.

Stacy and her husband Trey live in Crestview Hills with their two sons, Richard and Teddy.
